Neomuck
This project served as a senior thesis and investigation into how we think of land and what we can do to dismantle the systems of oppression causing global warming and inequity. In time, it became the Order of the NeoMuck, a 501(c) religious activist organization which aims to remove the divide between humanity and the global ecology by promoting ideals of ecology, sustainability, feminism, and anti-capitalism. Through both a bottom-up and top-down process, my team employed the existing land privilege systems to empower people to de-commoditize their communities. By reframing our thinking of land to instead conceptualize it as “muck” is to signal an understanding of Earth as nurturing ground and detach ourselves from current notions of land as a commodity with capital exchange value.
